The Waste Management and Minimisation Bylaw Review has now closed
From 26 October – 26 November we asked the community on their views on the proposed changes for Council Waste Management and Minimisation Bylaw.
Your submissions are being used to inform Council’s new Waste Management and Minimisation Bylaw.
This review will ensure the bylaw is fit for purpose since the last review in 2013. It will provide more consistency in the way we regulate waste and removes the risk of the District becoming a dumping ground for tricky waste coming from people or industries.
How you shared your thoughts
The community used this online hub to share their thoughts with an online survey and question’s function. We wanted to make it easy and fun for you to share your ideas and thoughts.
Feedback was also able to be collected via email, mail, or hard copy delivery to any of our library or service centres.
Next steps
We’ve received really helpful feedback and good ideas that will help to guide our next steps. Council will now review all the feedback that has been received.
All submitters to the Bylaw review will receive acknowledgement in writing or by email (if provided) the receipt of your feedback. All submitters who provided email or postal details will receive a decision document.
In February 2022, the Policy committee will make decisions based on the feedback received and will consider recommending the final Waste Management and Minimisation Bylaw for adoption by Council.
In February / March 2022 Council will meet to consider the adoption of the Waste Management and Minimisation Bylaw.
