What is the Livestock Movements Bylaw?
The Livestock Movements Bylaw protects the safety of all road users, the structure and surface of the carriageway, and public and private structures and utilities located on the road.
It also reduces inconvenience, nuisance and potential hazard for all road users, and minimises any loss of social value or environmental quality from use of the road.
Why has Council proposed these changes to the Livestock Movements Bylaw?
The significant change proposed is the introduction of the definition of ‘urban roads’ which would replace the list of roads in Schedule 1. This list was last updated in 2014, and there has been a lot of development and new roads since then.
Including a definition, instead of a list, means that new roads, which fall under the definition of ‘urban roads’ will automatically be captured by the bylaw.
