We’reupdatingour Livestock Movements Bylaw and want to hear from you.
The proposed changes to the bylaw could affect the community for yearsto come. This is your chanceto share your thoughts onhow livestock movements are managed in the Western Bay.
Whatare the proposed changes?
The proposed changes aim to align the bylaw with current national standards for livestock movements set by NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA).
We're also proposing to:
RemoveSchedule 1: This section currently listsroads where livestock movements are restricted, but it hasn't been updated since 2014 so does not include any new roads developed since then. We propose replacing this list with a definition of urban roads, covering both current and future urban areas where livestock movements would requireCouncil consent.
Remove outdated appendices and templates:The existing appendices no longer reflect current requirements and practices. Instead, we’ll refer to the national best practices set out by NZTA, or prepare documents as needed.
Let us know ifwe’ve got these changes right, how we could improve them or if we’ve missed anything.
