My principal place of residence is in the Waka Kai Uru Māori Ward area. Carlton Bidois is a fierce advocate for Māori rights and interests and brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Council table. He was awarded a Member of the New Zealand Order of Merit for Māori – Crown Relations and Contribution to the Environment. Carlton is concerned about the long-term impacts of the looming Referendum on Māori Wards and central government reforms negating Māori rights to representation, consultation, and equality under multiple council rules and policies. He has a one hundred day plan to hit the road running on your behalf including enhanced rohe whakahono agreements between Council, Iwi and Hapu, reviewing how council calculate and apportion Māori rates, enhanced Kaitiakitanga through council procurement and more. Carlton cares deeply about the future of Tauranga Mōana and Te Arawa ki Tai whānau, Hapu and Iwi. Vote for Carlton to ensure your vote counts this year and your voice is heard.

Independent My principal place of residence is in the Waka Kai Uru Māori Ward area. Ko Darlene Dinsdale tōku ingoa. He uri ahau nō Te Arawa, Takitimu me Mataatua. I’m standing for Waka Kai Uru Ward because I’m passionate about our people, our land, our waters, and our future. I want to ensure whānau voices are heard and included in the decisions to shape our shared future. I have extensive experience working alongside hapu, Iwi and with local and central government agencies bringing proven leadership supported in manaakitanga, kaitiakitanga, and kotahitanga. In these roles, I’ve advocated for protection of our environment and to make sure Māori values are key functions of decision making. I believe in honest, fair, and respectful leadership. I want to support decisions that work for both tangata whenua and tangata tiriti, now and for generations to come. Mā te mahi ngātahi ka tutuki, mā te aroha ka ea – by working together with care and love, we can achieve remarkable things.
