Traffic Enforcement and Parking Bylaw Review - Temporarily On Hold
The review of the Traffic Enforcement and Parking Bylaw has been placed on hold and will resume following the Local Government Elections.
This pause will allow Council to ensure a thorough review and prepare a draft bylaw for consideration after the elections, taking into account community feedback received to date.
We thank the community for your interest and look forward to engaging with you during the consultation process early next year.
Overview:
We’re reviewing the Traffic and Parking Enforcement Bylaw and want to hear your feedback to help shape the future of parking and traffic management across our Western Bay community.
Last reviewed in 2019, this bylaw guides Council’s approach to regulating parking and implementing traffic management and parking control measures on roads, public places, and parking areas under its care, control, or management within the Western Bay of Plenty District.
The bylaw is divided into three key parts:
1. Parking prohibitions and controls.
Parking prohibitions (yellow lines), angle parking, time-restricted parking, mobility parking, give way or stop signs at intersections and specific vehicle parking (e.g., motorcycles, loading zone & goods vehicle loading zones).
2. Traffic and vehicle controls.
The use of vehicles, vehicle restrictions, impounding and removal of vehicles, and general traffic safety controls.
3. Offenses and enforcement.
This outlines offences, failure to comply with signs and the exemption process and penalties for non-compliance.
For further information on all the provisions under this bylaw, please refer to the current Traffic and Parking Enforcement Bylaw 2019.
