Start date: Currently scheduled to start Monday 14 July (please note this date may be subject to change) Duration: Approximately 2 weeks (weather dependent) Location: Ōmokoroa Road – between the McKenna Lane and Tralee Street/Margaret Drive roundabouts Contractor: Higgins Contractors (on behalf of Western Bay of Plenty District Council)
What’s happening?
Essential safety works are about to begin on Ōmokoroa Road. Higgins Contractors will be removing the rocks from the centre median between the McKenna Lane roundabout and the Tralee Street/Margaret Drive roundabout.
Why are we doing this?
The rocks in the median have become loose in places and pose a potential hazard to passing vehicles. Removing them is an important safety measure to prevent damage or accidents.
What to expect:
Northbound lanes on Ōmokoroa Road will remain open
Southbound traffic will be detoured via Margaret Drive from the Tralee Street/Margaret Drive roundabout
A stop/go system will be in place at the Tralee Street/Margaret Drive roundabout to manage traffic flow safely
The shared pathway on the east side of the road will remain open
Traffic management will be in place throughout to keep crews and the public safe
Our team will do everything they can to minimise noise and disruption, and we appreciate your patience while this important work is completed.
