My principal place of residence is in the Maketu Community Board area.
Kia ora,
My name is Sue Elliott. I am standing as a candidate for the Maketu Community Board to advocate and ensure that Maketu continues to thrive for our mokopuna, tamariki, rangatahi and kaumatua, into the future.
My background is 20 years as a business owner in the food distribution area. I have also been a registered nurse for 20 years. Experience as a case manager for ACC Sensitive Claims and a Court Victim Advisor has completed my advocacy skill set.
I am now retired, but represent Ngāti Whakaue ki Maketu on the Iwi Māori Partnership Board for Te Moana a Toi.
I look forward to serving the Maketu Community if successful.

My principal place of residence is in the Maketu Community Board area.
Kia ora, ko Weina Moko ahau. I am of Te Arawa and Mataatua descent. I am from and reside in Maketu. I am passionate about people and the environment which is what encourages me to stand. I love to advocate for the minorities and have a priority for those who’s voices and mana are constantly ignored or silenced.
My main line of mahi is kaitiakitanga which includes caring for the environment, but most importantly the people.
I have experience in forestry, wetland and estuary environmental management, farming, kiwifruit to name a few. I have participated and represented in whanau/community groups, marae and hapu groups all with intention and hope for the people.
There are many dreams and aspirations for Maketu from the community, and I believe anything can be achieved through communication and collaboration.
Toitu te mana motuhake– Nā Weina Moko.

My principal place of residence is in the Maketu Community Board area.
It would be a privilege to represent the people of Maketu. I whakapapa to Maketu and was raised in Maketu, so I’m deeply committed to preserving and enhancing our unique Maketu lifestyle.
I value our community and acknowledge there is still work to be done. I want to be a strong, active voice for Maketu – someone who is present, engaged, and advocating for what matters most to us.
My key priorities include:
Ensuring Maketu infrastructure needs are met; Protecting our natural environment; Support our parks and reserves; Supporting Maketu community and social activities.
Having served three terms on the Maketu Community Board, I bring experience and a solid understanding of council processes. I’m ready to continue working hard for our community, with a clear focus on fairness, transparency, and delivering results.
I want to continue to be a voice in action for our people, representing Maketu with pride and purpose.

Ko Cecil Stanley Tohi Thomas (Moki) taku ingoa
I have been a resident of Maketu for most of my life; having moved to Rotorua aged 10. I despised moving and I eventually came home at the age of 15. At 67 I treasure Maketu and its uniqueness although the environment has changed.
What would I bring to Maketu as a Committee Board Member?
Passion; Purpose; Commitment; Transparency.
Regards,
Moki

I have been in the Maketu Community for the last15 yrs and been lucky enough to be welcomed in as whānau.
I would love the chance to carry on what my husband Brett has started, a strong voice to advocate for the community and to uphold the council accountable.
Ko maketu ahau, ko Maketu ko au
I am Maketu, Maketu is me.
