Draft Fees and Charges 2026/27
Kia ora,
Each year, as part of our Annual Plan, we review our Schedule of Fees and Charges to ensure they remain fair and reflective of the costs involved.
Share your views on the proposed changes to the Draft Schedule of Fees and Charges for 2026/27.
What are fees and charges?
Council applies fees and charges for specific services, activities and functions, in line with legislation.
These fees help cover the costs associated with providing goods, services, or amenities, issuing permits, and time spent processing applications for things like resource consents, building consents, and licenses.
Typically, where a service or activity is intended to benefit an individual or business (e.g. a building consent is for an individual building owner), Council will apply a fee to cover the cost of delivering that service.
Why are we reviewing fees and charges?
We need to ensure that our fees and charges reflect the actual and reasonable costs for goods, services, amenities, permits, approvals, and regulatory processes.
What’s changing?
The review has considered the impacts of inflation on activity costs, looked to increase cost recovery for activities and services provided, and made changes to better reflect the services provided to the community.
You can read the Statement of Proposal to find out more about the proposed changes. A full list of the proposed fees, which are planned to come into effect for the new financial year (1 July 2026 – 30 June 2027), can be viewed here.
