Consultation has concluded
What's in a name?
Our new Intranet is under construction (go check out the sneak preview here) and we're keen to start working on the look and feel - except we have one problem - we don't have a name!
This is where you come in. Get the creative juices flowing and submit a name for our new Intranet. We want a name that’s fun and connected to who we are at Western Bay.
How the competition works
Submissions are open from now until Wednesday 31 August. All you need to do is submit your name on the ideas board and include a reason or description.
On Thursday and Friday 1-2 September we'll ask everyone to hit like on their favourite name. The name with the most likes wins!
You can add one name each/ you can add as many names as you want.
Why is this important?
Think about it for a second: do you say "Google it" or do you say "Search it"? Hopefully, you say "Google it" or else this example is meaningless, but you get the picture.
This name will encompass our values, who we are and how we do things. It will also help us differentiate between the different tools in the Digital Workplace space. Let's start off on the right foot and give this platform a name that will resonate with all of us.
Need some help?
If you're stuck or feeling uninspired, have a read of these tips.
Ideally, the name should flow easily and sound natural in conversation. Don't make it too long either, it's not a novel. Use it in one of the sentences below to test it out:
Did you see the latest update on [intranet name]?
Go ahead and post the latest report to [intranet name].
Why don’t you try running an internal survey on [intranet name]?
If you're really set on a name but it's not flowing well, try playing with articles i.e. "The Facebook" versus "Facebook".
There’s no need to create fancy acronyms that spell out our business. Just have fun with it - make up a character or go hard with the puns. Here are some real-life examples of Intranet names (don't ask me why this is public information):
Fonterra - Milkyway
San Diego SPCA - Fetch
Fun Sun Vacations - The Beach House
Delta Community Credit Union - Simon
TripAdvisor - Passport
ANZ Bank - Max
Scion - The Treehouse
Toi Ohomai – Te Aka
Still stuck? Think back to what this platform means for everyone. Our new Intranet will be governed by these principles and more.
Some of our principles are:
Accessibility: a platform that serves everyone.
Community: everyone is part of our story.
Collaboration: a place to connect and share ideas with everyone.
Productivity: the gateway for the Digital Workplace and supporting our people with access to business tools.
Thanks for all your feedback and participation in this project so far. We're really excited to see what names you come up with!
