Consultation has concluded.  Thank you to everyone who provided feedback.

This bylaw sets the rules for keeping animals like poultry, pigs and other animals. These rules help reduce nuisance, protect health and wellbeing and set clear expectations for animal owners. Dogs are covered by a separate bylaw.

Council is required to regularly review its bylaws to make sure they’re still effective. We reviewed this bylaw in 2025 and found that it is generally working well, with some minor updates made. But before making a final decision, we’re checking in to make sure it’s still appropriate for our community.

What’s being proposed?

We’re proposing to continue the Animals (Excluding Dogs) Bylaw as it is, including the minor updates made in 2025. No major changes are proposed.

Keeping the bylaw provides clarity and certainty. It helps residents understand the rules and allows Council to respond to animal‑related nuisance when needed.

Your feedback is important to us

Let us know if you think the bylaw should stay as it is, be changed, or be removed.

Consultation closes at 5pm, Thursday 2 July 2026.
